The star marks the highest total to age 90 for the OAS start age you picked. Totals are in today's dollars with no investment growth, because CPP and OAS rise with inflation. Living past the break-even age favours starting later.

OAS rises 0.6% for each month you wait after 65, up to 36% at 70. If you qualify for GIS, waiting costs GIS for each month OAS is not in pay.
How this is worked out
CPP is reduced 0.6% for each month before 65 (up to 36%) and increased 0.7% for each month after 65 (up to 42%). OAS is increased 0.6% for each month after 65 (up to 36%) and by 10% from age 75. Totals add CPP, OAS (less any recovery tax) and an estimate of GIS for every year from 60 to your planning age, in today's dollars.
GIS is estimated from the published income cut-offs with a simplified straight-line model, uses your CPP plus other income (OAS is not counted), and needs OAS to be in pay. Real GIS is based on last year's income and exempts part of employment income. Your own tax, investment returns and health matter more than any break-even age, so treat this as a guide.
