What this tool does and does not include
- The starting numbers are examples only. Replace them with your own.
- Simplified 2026 estimates for a British Columbia business or owner. They leave out many real-life details such as other income, deductions and credits.
- Rates and rules change. Confirm them with the firm or the government before you act.
- Information only. This is not tax, accounting, legal or financial advice.
Good to know
- Budget 2026 proposes a full first-year write-off for most new equipment and software acquired on or after September 15, 2026. It is a proposal until it becomes law. See our Budget 2026 guide for business owners.
- A write-off only helps if you have profit to use it against. Ask the firm before you buy if your income is uneven.
- Compare buying with leasing in the loan and lease calculator.
