Tax and accounting rules affect real money, so here is how the guides on this site are written, sourced, dated and corrected.
Who writes the guides?
The guides are prepared by HJ Wu & Company Inc. (CPA), a Chartered Professional Accountant firm at 512 - 938 Howe Street, Vancouver. The responsible CPA is the firm’s owner, Amy Wu. You can read more on our about page.
Where does the information come from?
We base guides on official sources: the Canada Revenue Agency, the Province of British Columbia (including its budget documents), the City of Vancouver, the Law Society of BC and similar regulators. Each guide ends with an “Official sources” list so you can check the original yourself.
How do we keep them current?
Every guide shows a reviewed date. Budgets, rates and deadlines change, so we update guides when the rules change and note the date. If a date looks old and you suspect the rule has moved, please check the official source and let us know.
What we do when something is unclear
If official sources disagree or an announcement is still only a proposal, we say so in the guide rather than guess. For example, a measure that has been announced but paused is described as paused.
