Fillable PDFs, spreadsheets and checklists to help you get your paperwork together before tax season, so we can get your return done faster.

Quick answer: Grab the form that matches your situation, fill in what you can and send it back with your slips and receipts. You do not have to use them, but the more organized your paperwork is, the faster we can get your 2026 return done. For 2026, most personal returns are due April 30, 2027.

Everybody knows the hardest part of tax season is not the tax, it is finding the paperwork. We made these forms so you can gather your information in one place, in plain English, and so we can spot anything missing before it turns into a last-minute scramble.

Forms for individuals and families

Personal Tax Organizer 2026

One form that covers the basics: who you are, your family, which slips you have, your deductions and anything that changed this year. It is the easiest way to give us the full picture before we start your T1.

Good for: Employees, parents, retirees, renters, homeowners and anyone filing a personal return.

Forms for the self-employed and landlords

Self-Employed Income and Expenses 2026

A simple year-end summary of what you earned and what you spent, set up the same way as the self-employed section of your return. It also has spots for your vehicle, your home office and any big purchases.

Good for: Freelancers, contractors, side-hustlers, sole proprietors and partners.

Rental Property Summary 2026

Rent in, expenses out, and any big repairs or improvements, one copy for each property. If you share ownership, there is a spot for your share.

Good for: Landlords, including short-term rentals and rooms in your own home.

Forms for corporations

Corporate Year-End Checklist

Tick off the records you are sending and fill in the numbers we always end up asking about, like dividends, shareholder loans and what you owe at year-end. Send it a few weeks before your year-end if you can.

Good for: Owners and managers of corporations, including professional corporations.

Spreadsheets for everyone

Expense and Income Tracker 2026 (Excel)

Type in each expense as it happens and pick a category from the drop-down. A summary tab adds it all up by category and by month, so there is no big pile of receipts to sort in April.

Good for: Anyone who would rather keep a running list than do a big catch-up at the end.

Works in Excel and Google Sheets. In Google Sheets, upload the file and open it there.

Vehicle Mileage Log 2026 (Excel)

Log your business trips and it works out your business-use percentage for you. The CRA wants a log if you claim vehicle costs, so so keep it handy.

Good for: Anyone who drives for work and plans to claim vehicle costs.

What to gather first

Not sure what counts as a document? Here is a quick list for each situation. Tick them off as you find them.

Checklist: employees and families

Things to dig up before you fill in your Personal Tax Organizer:

  • Your T4s, plus any T4A, T4E or T5 slips
  • Last year’s notice of assessment, if you have it
  • RRSP and FHSA receipts, including contributions made in the first 60 days of 2027 that you want to count for 2026
  • Tuition slips (T2202) for you or your kids
  • Child care receipts and the names of your providers
  • Donation receipts and medical expense receipts
  • Union or professional dues, if they are not already on your T4

Checklist: homeowners and renters

These help with the BC and Vancouver bits:

  • Total rent you paid in 2026 and your landlord’s name
  • Your property tax notice
  • Mortgage interest statement, if part of your home is a rental or a home office
  • Your Empty Homes Tax or Speculation and Vacancy Tax declaration, if you filed one
  • Any moving receipts, if you moved for work or school

Checklist: investors and anyone with foreign income

Not exciting, but it keeps you out of trouble:

  • T5, T3 and T5008 slips from your bank or broker
  • A list of any crypto trades, with dates and amounts
  • Statements for foreign accounts or property, especially if the total cost is over $100,000 CAD at any time in the year
  • Foreign tax slips or statements, and the exchange rates you used if you have them

Checklist: self-employed and landlords

Everything the summary forms above will ask about:

  • Bank and credit card statements for every month of 2026
  • Sales invoices, or a report from your bookkeeping software
  • Receipts for bigger purchases, especially equipment over $500
  • GST and PST returns you have already filed
  • Your mileage log and the odometer readings on January 1 and December 31
  • Square footage of your home and of the part you use for work
  • Rent rolls, strata fee statements and property tax bills for each rental

How to fill in the PDF forms

  1. Download the form and open it in the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. Most web browsers and the Preview app on a Mac can fill in forms too, but they sometimes forget what you typed when you save, so check before you send it.
  2. Click a box and type. Skip anything that does not apply, and round to the nearest dollar.
  3. Save the file under your name, such as Smith-Tax-Organizer-2026.pdf.
  4. Prefer paper? Print it and write on it. That works fine too.

How to get it back to us

Bring it to our office at 512 - 938 Howe Street, or give us a call at 604-636-1862 and we will tell you the easiest way to send it. Please do not email your Social Insurance Number or any banking passwords. Regular email is not a private channel, so for anything sensitive, call us first and we will tell you the safest way to share it.

When should I send it?

As soon as you have most of your slips. Many arrive by the end of February, and RRSP contributions for 2026 count up to March 1, 2027. Our important tax dates page has the full list. Sending things early means fewer late nights for both of us, and it leaves time to fix anything that is missing.

These are our own organizers, not official CRA forms. They help us collect your information, but nothing you fill in here is sent to the CRA or anyone else. This is general information, not tax advice. Talk to us about your own situation.

As soon as you have most of your slips. Many slips arrive by the end of February, and the RRSP deadline for 2026 is March 1, 2027. Most personal returns are due April 30, 2027, or June 15, 2027 if you or your spouse or partner is self-employed, although any balance owing is still due April 30. The earlier we have your documents, the more time there is to fix anything that is missing.

Under Canada Revenue Agency rules, most resident corporations must file a T2 return every year, even if no tax is owing, and the deadline is six months after the fiscal year-end. HJ Wu & Company Inc. prepares and files T2 returns on time and also offers basic tax planning ahead of year-end. Contact HJ Wu & Company Inc. before your year-end so nothing sneaks up on you.
